….your story is very interesting ….I had an almost exact experience w/ the same guy, same time frame. I heard he passed years ago…He had made me promise not to ‘cut’ the slabs I took home with me, explaining that that would damage the spirit of the wood; I waited years before I actually turned the slabs into tables!

I remember staying in a Guatemala town near the the Mexican boarder and hearing a lot of rumbling during the night. In the morning I asked the desk clerk if that was a volcano. “Oh Yes,” he said, ” But you don’t have to worry.. The lava always flows to the sea.”

I remember her. Beautiful. Loved how you captured her flowing wraps with the wood.
