I’ve noticed in the past that when I finish a piece that takes several weeks to finish I find it difficult to get into the rhythm of working on something new. There is a gestation period every time.
Sometimes I play around with color and shape just to prime the pump and get the juices flowing again. This piece began with a few broad swipes with soft pastels. They were fixed a few times and then I began to add texture with a thick modeling paste. When that dried I added more color and eventfully moved over to oil and oil pastels to complete the painting.
This is a break from my usual body of work but it still fits in there and now Iām ready to get on with it.
The sketch for the next 3D piece is completed so the process beings again.
